2–3 Room

The 2–3 room is another bright spacious room which caters for up to 20 children.

At Abbey we don't like to think of our children as "terrible two's" but more as "testing two's"! Children of this age are exploring boundaries and staff are very skilled at providing an excellent balance between allowing them freedom to learn and experiment, learning social skills, consideration for others, and the need to follow rules for their own safety and that of others.

Children are introduced to a slightly more structured routine in preparation for their ante pre school year. Staff in this room are also using the Birth to Three document to plan for the children's learning and record their progress.

Potty training tends to happen in this room and staff are very experienced in making this as stress free for both children and parents as possible. They will give lots of support to ensure consistency between home and nursery.

The children have direct access to the spacious garden and have daily opportunities for fresh air and excercise. Some of the younger children in the 2–3 room still need to have a nap during the day and staff create a quiet area for this as required.

The 2–3 room operates a 1:5 staff to child ratio.
